These cards are based on the old 'no wires nessary' cards. There's a Linux port, and the docs are flowing around the net. There's no driver for *BSD at the moment. There's a Linux driver for this card. The 196/696 sounds like a refinement of the same interface, but I've not checked out the linux driver. I supposedly have one of these cards on the way to me to do some driver work, but so far it hasn't shown up.
