Personal Telco University Winter Session

Hello Prospective Student,

I'm pleased to announce the opening of registration for this winter's 
PTP University session.

Last fall PTP graduated its first class of wireless hackers. Building 
on that experience the curriculum has been honed to spread the 
knowledge of the art and science of unwiring. These focused courses 
will be led by the brightest members whose practical experience has 
demonstrated critical importance. This session will begin on January 
10th and continue every monday night at 6:30PM for eight weeks. There 
are eight seats open and the cost is eighty dollars.

There's one significant change in this session that we'll be able to 
help you through. You must be comfortable having fun hacking at Linux. 
In the last session it was apparent that Linux knowledge is the license 
to experiment on this network. While it might be possible to have 
several periods devoted to covering Linux our unique expertise is 
obviously hacking wireless networks. So here's the deal... If you 
haven't already settled on a Linux distribution (or some *nix variant) 
that you enjoy hacking at then go ahead note as much when you register. 
We'll hook you up with another organization or self-directed learning 
that will bring your Linux skills up to a baseline that you will be 
able to use launching your wireless networking practice.

That said this session's curriculum will have an increased focus on:

  * Community Communication
  * Linux Networking and Security
  * System Development and Documentation
  * 802.11 Protocol and Modulation Techniques
  * Antenna Design

Application procedure -- Send an email to 
<[email protected]> with the following information:

  1) Your contact information.
  2) At least a one paragraph essay on how you plan to improve a 
neighborhood with your knowledge (hint: a simple idea is unwiring a 
park, cafe or any public space).
  3) (optional) Scholarships are available. To apply for a full ride 
please explain your special circumstance.
  4) (optional) Do you need a prep session to be comfortable hacking at 
Linux?
