hey all.

the first news is that michael codanti, the wireless supply guy and our
treasurer, has said that he no longer has the time to commit to
personal telco. we're sad to see him leave and he's hopefully that
things we'll clear up and he'll be back and active again. however that
leaves us in the situation of needing a new treasurer.

according to our bylaws when a member of the board of directors can't
fullfill a term an interim one is appointed by the board. we've met and
discussed it and invited aaron baer to become our new treasurer. aaron
has accepted and we're pleased to have him. he will be serving until
michael's original two year term ends in august of 2004.

there is a draft of the membership agreement on the web site:

  http://www.personaltelco.net/index.cgi/MembershipAgreement

we think it says pretty much what we want, however it has not been run
by the lawyers and is not in any way intended to be taken as legaleze.

the main point of the document is to give voting rights to the people
who contribute to the network. the most common way for someone to
contribute is to put up a node! however we have made exceptions for
board appointment (for people who've contributed significantly but for
some reason can't put up a node) and for a paid membership.

the rest of it is fairly common sense stuff that we just wanted to put
down to make sure that everyone was on the same page.

this version is pretty close to final so if there is something you hate
now is the time to speak up.

----

finally there is a timeline for the election on the web site. i'm sure
i've forgotten some things and messed others up (i've never done this
before) but it think it's pretty good first pass. if you see something
that doesn't make sense or have a better suggestion please let us know
as soon as possible:

  http://www.personaltelco.net/index.cgi/ElectionTimeline

thanks,
adam.
