Some things I have picked up on having playing with doing linux based
boxes for public use at the UG....

I used a full then a partial install of linux (ubuntu) on a box at the
UG and folks had all sorts of issue with it. I even tried a stripped
down version of xubuntu on the older machines to get the speed up
some, still I would come into the shop and the box would either be
turned off or unused. With KioskCD the users never see an os as such,
they just get a browser and thats it. this helps on the older boxens I
am using as there is very little to cruft it up. The staff can even
deal with any issues, the ust turn them off and back on...done. There
are less issues with those 5 kisokcd boxes on the front counter then
we had with just 1 .

I know this can be done up with any flavor of linux or os, but
kioskcd just had it all taken care of right out of the iso.   Im not
knocking or pushing anything in particular, just offering up what I
have picked up in the trenches.
