I wouldn't consider their Customer Support response to be the final word in this matter. Their GPL code page lists the source for the WRT54GX (http://www.linksys.com/support/gpl.asp), as such it may very well be possible to customize the firmware to do WDS repeating, client mode and other useful things. I have not looked at the source to see how similar it is to what was provided for the WRT54G/GS routers. So it will not be compatible. As of now we do not have a device to increas the signal on the WRT54GX. Since this device has already has a wide spead of signal. >=== > >So if it catches on, do they see the WRT554GX as core to other ancillary products like a repeater?
