RE: CWNA, CWSP, CWAP: any value?

No value.

Other than going through the exam taking exercise for self-enrichment,
it will not command riches to flow into your pockets.  This is a little
known cert program, and I doubt many employers and HR departments are
aware of it.  And even if they are, the technology is in its infancy and
is not perfected, and this is where worldly experience is generally more
valuable.  

If you want to take the certification path to enrich your career, I
would highly suggest building a proper foundation in networking.
Wireless access points are no different than any other network
appliance/device--such as a switch, router or load balancer.  The WiFi
radio is the tip of the iceberg in a wireless network.

"Vendor neutral" certifications sounds nice, but I would not suggest it.
Pick your certification programs wisely, because its worthiness is just
about the difference between a law degree at Harvard and a no-name,
unaccredited online college degree in gunsmithing.  I hate to say it,
but not only does Cisco run the entire world, but their networking
fundamentals taught in books/exams can be taken to any platform.

Check out the cisco cert program (CCNA/CCNP/CCIE), if you want a
certification that's worth anything.  And even then, the CCNA is pretty
much trash these days anyway.  Use it as a stepping stone to go for the
more appreciated certifications such as CCNP/CCIE.  CCIE's can command
some impressive salaries -- sometimes a little more than they deserve :)

Cisco does not currently have a wireless cert, but this will change
shortly.  

Still, even after all these certs, there's no replacement for real world
experience.  Gain enough, and it really doesn't matter what you have
framed on your wall at home.

I've been looking at the www.cwnp.com certification stuff and I was 
wondering if anyone here had any experience of them? If so are they any
good?
Worthwhile in terms of job prospects and bettering ones career? They
seem to
be vendor neutral which is good, plus some of the vendors have released
stuff
for them (e.g. Cisco, Orinoco). $175 for an exam isn't bad (even better
if I
can con my employer into paying for it)..
