[ In major cities around the world the site leasing costs have been escalating [ as building owners and tower operators have come to realize that they have a [ monopoly and can charge whatever the competitive market will pay. These folks are not too bright if they realize they have a monopoly and then still charge rates which are competitive with the market. Your statement is self-contradictory. All businesses charge whatever the competitive market will pay, it does not require a monopoly for that situation, just simple economics sense.
