Go here http://sourceforge.net/search/ and search for 'promiscuous mode' or 'WEP crack' and you will find tools for academic pursuits. ----- Original Message ----- From: "David Huseby" <[email protected]> To: "SeattleWireless Talk List" <[email protected]> Sent: Thursday, January 13, 2005 2:18 PM Subject: detecting promiscuous 802.11x cards... Is it possible to detect 802.11x cards in promiscuous mode? In theory the answer is "no" because the cards would just be "listening" to all packets on a channel. But in reality, do any of the cards change behavior in a detectable way when in promiscuous mode? I was just curious because I seem to recall that there is a way to detect 10/100 ethernet nics in promiscuous mode on a LAN.
