Rx Sensitivity Question

Hello, it has been I while since I posted, I am using a new email address.  Gotta love spam.  

We see that Rx sensitivity on the AP is one of the most important characteristics to metro wifi success.  We are in awe at the Tropos Rx sensitivity levels compared to the rest of the industry (-98 @1M versus typical of around 90-92 @ 1M).  From my understanding, this is achieved using a chipset with typical Rx sens levels and then a custom built amplifier is added which boosts it cleanly.   If you have not tried the tropos boxes, they are definately worth a try.   

My Questions then are these:

1.  We use fairly cheap amps from hyperlink and winncom and do not get the same level of perf.   Is there a high quality amp out there that can do this much better?   11G/B preffered over 11B only.

2. If it is not commercially available, how could we go about designing and making this type of amplifier?  Does anyone have RF amplifier expertise in this area or can point me to a resource.   We are taking resumes for experts if anyone is interested here ([email protected])  

3. How is antenna diversity handled with amps, do you need two amps, one on each antenna?
