You have us confused with the other Seattle Wireless (an ISP). We are the real deal though - a non profit entity.

DO NOT FEAR THOUGH! :) We are a much better group to be in contact with ;)

There are many people on the list with tons of experience with wide wide wide area coverage so ask away - I have no doubt you will get a few good replys.

Subject: new to list

I checked the vote on local community control of broadband/wireless for
our community this morning, and the yes votes won. That means we have
the green light to convince the city to consider options for community
broadband wireless networks. My first question is: Is there a strategy
for cwn that works across a lot of open country? How far do you go?
Are there folks outside of Seattle that manage to link into your network?

I live in Charles City, Iowa. There are some 8 to 10 thousand
residents. Farms, small communities surround the area, and yes, it's
pretty flat.

I read that you're using 802.11b technology standards. If you were to
start over, today, would you still choose 802.11b as opposed to
something like 802.11g?

I look forward to following the list, and applaud each of you. It's
exciting stuff. I know that people buy t-shirts and hats and mugs that
look cool! When we get something going, here, and likely built around
the interesting model you folks have, I hope we can feature your gear
and increase sales for you.
