RE: EVDO throughput in Seattle

My comments are from an evaluation of this technology 6 or so months
ago...things may have changed...

130-150 kbps, maxing at about 200kbps (according to the connection
manager, although I really couldn't tell the difference) is about what I
was experiencing.  I was involved in their corporate launch of the
service about 6 or so months ago.  They provided all their corporate
clients with a card and free service for a month so we could check out
the speed.  

After sitting through the launch presentation and listening to the tout
the speed of their system, I was expecting a true broad-band wireless
experience.  Unfortunately I never saw speeds of more than what you are
quoting in the downtown core area.  At our house in Bellevue, we have
such poor reception (with all cell carriers) that I wasn't even able to
get online.

I work with a construction company and we were hoping that this
technology would be usable on some of our jobsites so that we wouldn't
need a landline and DSL or cable.  Unfortunately we determined that this
technology was not fast enough or reliable enough to provide the
connections we needed.

I've got a Verizon EVDO account and a Kyocera KPC650 card.
I'm getting a max of 130 kbps.
I get less when I'm in a weaker area, but never more.
I've tried this in both Seattle and Issaquah.

Anyone getting faster speeds than this in Seattle ?
I've seen reports of faster speeds in DC.
