I thought I remember hearing something about it sharing bandwidth with
all users...perhaps that is why he is clocking it at such low speeds.
Cant really comment other than that though since I have only read about
it ;)

I'm currently using an EVDO connection and just tested 501 kbps down and
119
kbps up.  I have seen a full megabit down but generally run in the
500-600
kbps range.  I've been able to stay connected from Everett to Tacoma
driving
along I5, with only occasional drops to 1xRTT.

I have been using Verizon's service from the first time they rolled out
the
1xRTT service.  For the $59/mo. from Verizon, it's well worth it.
