I do indeed agree with you there.  If I were looking at 500mw, I would be
looking at it for a fairly lengthy point-to-point shot.

 

For my particular environment, a full 100mw do just fine as I already have a
good high gain antenna placed in the "sweet" spot. Just need a bit more
power than I have now to get in the nooks and crannies =)

I feel compelled to bring up the age old argument, don't do with an amp what
you can do with gain or design.  In other words, don't flood the spectrum
with 500mW if a higher gain antenna or better placement of the AP would
improve performance just the same.  Just my .02.  Carry on.
