My understanding would be the same as Haudy's but I haven't tried anything quite like that. As you probably know there's an extremely helpful bunch of people on the monowall email list that may be able to provide futher input. My one most relevant personal experience has been with running m0n0wall on a Soekris net4501 with a 133 Mhz CPU (486?) , and 64 Mbyte of Ram. It worked fine with an 8 megabit/sec commercial cable modem line with up to 70 people getting dhcp leases every two hours.... until I turned captive portal on and the Soekris CPU/RAM got swamped within about 24 hours... that's with a newly released version of m0n0wall captive portal software (part of the Jan 1 release of 1.21) and perhaps there are aspects that still need tweaking. The Soekris box didn't include a wireless card, the users were associating with a set of Cisco APs within the wlan.
