Ive gone thru lots of their lit and so far and not only less than impressed I'm a bit insulted. They are hyping themselves with the title Grass Roots Revolution of Community Wifi.um...no. See, folks who gave vital organ to the cause get to use that title. Folks who have hounded neighbor to put a tena up on their primo chimney get to use that title. Groups who have turned sections of their home towns into places where you are able to get connected without being classified as an "Alien" and being billed for the insult...they get to use that title. 20$mil does not get you that title, though it does get you in the press. FON for all I can tell (and yes I know some folks with good intentions have jumped on the FON wagon) are out to subvert something good that has already been happening in order to gain some power/clout/payout. So what would I tell people who ask me about FON? You want to be part of the Grass Roots Revolution of Community Wifi? Go join your local Community Wifi Group or start your own, if you need help let me know and I can help you out some. -tomhiggins Director of Education PersonalTelcoProject -- The Personal Telco Project - http://www.personaltelco.net/ Donate to PTP: http://www.personaltelco.net/donate Un/Subscribe: http://lists.personaltelco.net/mailman/listinfo/general/ Archives: http://news.gmane.org/gmane.network.wireless.portland.general/ Etiquette: http://www.personaltelco.net/index.cgi/MailingListEtiquette
