all good Ideas. My experience with a similar situation was that an omni 
on the 2nd floor [ think attic] gave a good signal at the opposite end 
of a large house in the basement. 20 ft. down and 30 or more on the 
diagonal at the other end of the house. I did experiment with reflectors 
[parabolic] and got a stronger signal. just move the ant. around and see 
where it works best.
