Did they have generator backup from the beginning, or we these added after the fact? Either way, kudos to clear wire. This last week did not give me a lot of confidence in the reliability of cellular infrastructure during emergencies, at least as provided by t-mobile. My cellular connectivity went up and down all week and I encountered a large number of total dead zones while out and about, in areas where I know coverage existed in the past. I also experienced a lot of irregularity to their service. At one point, I was talking to my brother in Cleveland and suddenly got cross connected to someone in Pine Lake (the Minnesota variety, by the accent). I also would frequently dial numbers, only to be told that they did not exist - not that they weren't in service (as in a turned off cell-phone), but that that number was unassigned. Redialing the number 15 seconds later had about a 50/50 shot of connecting. > I'm an engineer with Clearwire. > > Most of our sites do indeed have generator backup - our field techs have been refueling them all week. > > ********** > > Let us go forth a while, and get better air in our lungs.
