While having some troubles with remote DSL modems occasionally losing sync, I'm trying to check out power supplies/switches that support remote rebooting or automated rebooting driven by ping results when the device attempts to ping other devices. These three looked particularly interesting: Digital Loggers, Inc. Web Power Switch http://www.digital-loggers.com/lpc.html (no telnet as of 2/07) (about $150) Synaccess Netbooter NP-02 http://www.synaccess-net.com/products.php?id=np02 (about $200) Dataprobe iBOOT http://dataprobe.com/products/power/iboot/index.html (about $235) I was leaning toward the first of those possibilities for situations where telnet wouldn't add much value and the second in situations where telnet would be especially useful (e.g., in a Roofnet mesh network where I could reach the power switch via another gateway, hopping through Roofnet nodes via ssh/telnet). But I was surprised to find last night that the online store cites $80+ for shipping from CA to MA. I'm hoping that's a mistake. I'd be interested to know if any of you have had experience with such devices and have experience/recommendations to share?
