I recall hearing a radio interview with some Blackberry representative that they were sticking with EDGE for power consumption reasons. It sounded like double-speak to me since you would think a phone with HSDPA could fall back to EDGE. I have EDGE and will confirm it is way too slow, though in some markets it is better than others. In the SF Bay Area, EDGE is on continual overload. When I use it in socal or Vegas, it is like a turbo has been installed. The only thing I can say positive about EDGE is the GSM network in general seems to work better than other services I've had when roaming. That is, I think the networks are more uniform across the country. I can't tell you how much time I spent with Verizon trying to get voice to work in some markets that I would not call rural. I've run EDGE without a hitch everywhere I've traveled (assuming the service is available.) On an unrelated note, now that Speakeasy is under Best Buy, should I be looking for a new DSL provider?
