Hello, I have a laptop computer, running Windows Vista, and has 802.11 b/g wireless capability. I wished to amplify the weak wifi signals that are usually the case at most motel/condo units. I read at web sites about USB adaptors, USB extension cords and various metallic devices to use as signal-collectors. As per a guy at Radio Shack, I purchased a Linksys USB adaptor, Model WUSB54GC, ($ 55) a 10' USB extension cord and have several metallic devices for using as antennae. I have found that I need to download drivers from Linksys web site and a tech rep indicated I will also have to disable my laptop's present wireless card.
Did I purchase the wrong USB adaptor? If so, where can I obtain the correct USB adaptor and what do I ask for?I Thank you
