However the point is there are too many directories/domains to do
anything manually, in total 1234 so far.

Actually, i don't need to cache any file above, say, 1 Megabyte size,
since with  my browsing customs, files of this size and above use to be
documents (like PDF) or multimedia (images or movies), which i store
locally anyway if i like to preserve them.

I try to remember to get large files by right clicking the link and
issue 'download' but this also is tedious, since i have to look up the
downloads up with external apps  later, and it's too much of mouse
action anyway... (anybody knows a fast Xdrag&drop downloader which 
works with galeon and firefox ?)

But always some slip through. By now,

I never tried to manipulate the cache manually. What can i do safely ?
Can i just delete these files, together with the related U file,
directly from the filesystem ? Of course that can be automated.
But anyway, it would be more straightforward to avoid caching of
unwanted files from the beginning. For example, it would be cool if i 
could apply a max size to each enabled  "don't cache" filetype.
