Re: refreshing the cache completely

On my wish-list is what is known in undergraduate CCS as a "garbage  
collection" routine.
Some sites create more garbage than others; the news sites (CNN,  
Reuters, etc) produce massively, because the same front page is  
reused... so the links are lost to all the pictures, vids, java..    
every time the page is loaded.

Most of the browsers I am familiar with don't do a GC either, so I am  
always having to quit the browser and restart, to free up the wasted  
ram.

Some people refer to the lost pieces as "orphans"... I think this is  
an excuse to avoid cleaning up. (Awe, MOM, I don't have to clean my  
room ... all those empty macdonald's containers and half-eaten  
hamburgers are ORPHANs, I would be committing a SIN...)

However it might be possible to "dredge" the "http" directory to  
search for recyclable bits of information... (interesting news fotos,  
etc).

One of my thoughts is to create an App. that will do a slide show  
based on the jpegs and gifs in limbo;   one of the tasks of the  
slideshow app. would be to create montages with the small images, and  
provide a mechanism for saving interesting stuff.

(which may or may not do anything for the sources of the images...)
