Hi list,

I have a problem having OSPF packets going over a gre tunnel on linux
2.4/2.6 kernel machines.
It looks like i cannot enable OSPF on the GRE interfaces:

I can see the PROT 89 packets leaving for 224.0.0.5 but none coming
back. Opposite, I have a CISCO PIX on the same subnets and there I can
see the PROT 89 packets going both ways.

One end of the gre has IP 10.253.12.5/14, the other 10.253.2.5/14. Hence
they are on the same subnet.

Excerpt of config:

(...)
interface grekwd
ip ospf network point-to-point
ip ospf authentication message-digest
ip ospf message-digest-key [n] md5 [pwd]
ip ospf hello-interval 20
ip ospf dead-interval 50
ip ospf transmit-delay 3
(...)

sh ip o i
grekwd is up, line protocol is up
OSPF not enabled on this interface

6: grekwd@eth0: <POINTOPOINT,MULTICAST,NOARP,UP,10000> mtu 1476 qdisc
noqueue link/gre 10.0.12.10 peer 10.0.2.15

6: grekwd@eth0: <POINTOPOINT,MULTICAST,NOARP,UP,10000> mtu 1476 qdisc
noqueue link/gre 10.0.12.10 peer 10.0.2.15
inet 10.253.12.5/14 scope global grekwd

I am certainly missing something, but, after days of trying, ant help
would much appreciated.

Thx,
GregH
