Re: Caching of DNS records in tmdns

It seems that there are a few people putting out implementations - but=20=

they all seem to have their problems in one way or another. Whilst=20
Apple do have an implementation that does provide a standard, it does=20
have licensing  issues with distro's such as Debian that are picky.=20
What I would like to see is one implementation (for say Free *nix),=20
released under the GPL or BSD license, that provides a standard API =20
for application developers - so we don't end up with an environment=20
where we have multiple applications running a wide range of 'custom'=20
zeroconf daemons, that are all incompatible (as in my understanding=20
only one daemon can bind to port 5353 at a time). It would also be nice=20=

to keep us as best as we can compatible with Apple's mDNS daemon.

What steps need to be taken in order for something like this to form?=20
Is it a possible or am I just wishful thinking ?
