Liveness of tmdns project?

Hi,

I'm looking at using mdns technology to simplify some aspects of name
resolution in Grid/Clusters.   I have poked at tmdns a bit because the
bridge feature is perhaps a handy way of  getting things that don't
talk mdns to still get resolvable names without a configured DNS
server.

I'd like to know how "live" the tmdns source base is -- it seems
to be included in Mandrake 10 in an early version that has got
some 64  bit patches in their source rpm.   I've had to make some
changes to get it to run on solaris, and happily on linux when using
any of the other mdns clients and resolvers (apple, jmdns, howl).

Among the things I've done (some of which may even be correct)
are:
    fix some signed/unsigned char 255/-1 handling of ttl;
    move REUSEADDR before bind(); add REUSEPORT;
    remove BINDTOINTERFACE; set IP_MULTICAST_IF;
    check loopback for multicast, and don't bind it as m/c intf.
    add loopback to base rr set and reverse map as
       'localhost.local' and 127.0.0.1 instead of as a name.
    add 'bridgeall' option to bind to 0.0.0.0:53
    add 'bridgeonly' option to turn off handling of
       multicast queries, so you can run another
       responder as the authoritative one.
    change add_membership call to one that is more portable
      (not using the interface index)
    have one m/c listener on 0.0.0.0/224.0.0.251 instead of one
       for each interface.
