Military recruiters are persuasive individuals. Many people who join
the army are mislead as to what they are getting into. The recruiters
start calling kids when they are 17 and bill joining the army as an
awesome alternative to collage that will provide kids with discipline,
skills, and money. Lots of people don't have jobs in this economy and
joining the army is a way to make money. The recruiters often leave
the "oh, and you will get shot at and have to kill people" out of the
speeches they give to kids. At 17 I wasn't capable of making good
career decisions and once you sign up for the army they have you for 8
yrs. I certainly sympathize with people who sign up and realize that
the army is not the place for them.
