Aaron and I were discussing this article right before I headed out to
Portland.  Pretty damn interesting.  I'd like to read the other papers by the
author that were previously released anonymously, but haven't found the time.
 If someone wants to post them here, I'd be grateful.

Also, on an unrelated note, I've been seeing so much talk of the one year
anniversary of the war on Iraq coming up.  I thought the following comment
from the dnovpr list was insightful:

   I must comment. NPR, VPR and the traditional media, and by the
   way many liberal and progressive activist groups, have been
   using the phrase "one year anniversary of the wa[r]" to mark
   March 20. This is incorrect and as Peter Diamondstone puts
   it "a distortion of history". The Iraq war has been going in since July,
   1999 and has continued until the present time. Sanctions have
   killed 1 - 2 million Iraqi. "Shock and Awe" itself started before
   March 20, 2003. The conflict in Iraq is now the second longest
   in United States History. Of course, there are reasons for
   calling March 20th the "first" anniversary, and that is to set into
   the collective consciousness of the public the unconscious
   notion that war is a not-so-often tool of foreign policy and
   is used as a last resort. The truth is quite the opposite,
   but why make reference to that, it being the first casualty of war?
