+++ A MESSAGE FROM HARDY MACHIA +++

Dear Friends,

Gary Nolan will be speaking at UVM's Ira Allen Chapel at
4:00 p.m. on Monday. I will be introducing Nolan tomorrow
at the UVM event. He is a "recovering Republican" who has
hosted two nationally syndicated talk shows and is seeking
the Libertarian nomination for President.. He will speak on
"Saving the U.S. from Bush - The Economy, Civil Liberties
and the War on Terror & Foreign Policy."

If you cannot make the 4:00 p.m. event, Nolan will also
speaking to a smaller group at Cactus Pete's Restaurant on
Shelburne Road at 7:00 p.m. (RSVP to brendankinney-/E1597aS9LRfmgfxC/sS/[email protected])

I had the first debate of the season with Clavelle at Lyndon
State College. Peter Clavelle and I debated a variety of
topics. Clavelle kept saying free markets do not work, so
when he brought up reimporting drugs from Canada, I
congratulated him on supporting a free market solution to
the prescription drug problem. :-)

Best regards,
   Hardy Machia

+++ Medical Marijuana Update+++

Your phone calls helped produce a symbolic victory on
Wednesday when the Vermont House of Representatives voted
79-57 to amend H. 752, An Act Relating to Advance Directives
for Health Care, to include language requiring medical
marijuana to be studied, as related to pain management. It
prompted two and a half hours of debate on a variety of
issues around medical marijuana.

Then on Friday, the House Health and Welfare Committee voted
6-5 to hold hearings on medical marijuana bill S. 76. The
hearings will take place on April 14 and 15.

Momentum behind the medical marijuana bill is stronger than
it has ever been. Now is the perfect time to tell your
representatives that you support S. 76, even if you have
previously given them that message.

Please take a few moments to visit MPP's website at
http://www.mpp.org/VT/action.html . After you type in your
address, MPP's site will automatically e-mail your letter to
your representatives ... all with the click of a few
buttons.

+++ Media +++

The Burlington Free Press interviewed me on Burlington's
medical marijuana results. Rep. Keogh of Burlington was
quoted as saying "Who the hell is Hardy Machia...".

William Wicker penned a letter to the editor of the Free
Press with some of my issues in response to Keogh's comment.

The Lyndon State College student news station (Channel 7)
interviewed me prior to the first debate of the season with
Clavelle.
