Dinesh D'Souza coming to UVM

So I got an e-mail from the UVM Outing Club,about a protest against Dinesh
D'Souza.  I find the forwarded e-mail a little selective and hysterical, but,
but, this guy did write a biography of Jerry Falwell, and a glowing book about
Reagan, so... the organizers are not completely out of line ;).

Of course they're not out of line.  I am curious about the lack of left-wing
response to William Kristol's visit last fall, as he is equally repugnant.

He's coming on the 19th, next Monday, hosted by the college Republicans.  He'll
be speaking at Ira Allen at 6 or 7 p.m.  The GOP Kids don't have it listed, but
the protest is slated to go off at 6:15, so I would assume 7.



I hear 4/20 at UVM is coming back with a vengeance this year.  Bets on how many
arrests they'll make?

 Dinesh D'Souza is associated with the American Enterprise
Institute, a conservative think-tank. As an undergraduate student at
Dartmouth College, D'Souza founded and served as editor of the
ultra-conservative Dartmouth Review. 

The Review was reportedly kicked off campus after a student
uproar following the paper's publishing of "humorous"
articles featuring KKK-type stereotypes of Black students. During D'Souza's term
as editor, the Review also reportedly published private correspondence of gay
students stolen by its staff members.


D'Souza's next journalistic stint was as editor of Prospect,
a paper that under his leadership published an attack on women's studies
and an "expose" of the sex life of a woman undergraduate student, without her
permission [according to author Ellen Messer-Davidow.]
 D'Souza?s book 'The End of Racism' argues that low-income
Black people are basically "pathological" and that white racism
isn't really racism at all, just a logical response to this "pathology."


D'Souza will speak on the 'Clash of Civilizations: Islam vs.
the West' at Ira Allen Chapel on Monday, April 19th. Given that he is
against Affirmative action, is for the repealing of the Civil Right Act of 1964,
and argues that slavery was not racist,we can only imagine what he will say
about Muslims and his justifications for the current 'War on Terror.'
