We should have more courageous people taking photos of our war dead. It takes nothing from their dignity. If anything, it becomes their lasting dignity and shows the public that this is real and not a video game. I know the real reason is fear of looking like Vietnam but since the Pentagon is all about numbers, I am surprised they aren't showing them as the numbers pale in comparision to the daily body count of wars past. To me, it is very similiar to the stupid argument that we, as a public, should be outraged when our troops are photographed or video'ed either captured or dead while it's fine for us to show their dead or captured. We should be shown these things. So we can understand what the hell is happening across the globe otherwise we become a nation of ostriches (Just Give Us Our Oprah!). The western world is the only place that shuns it. Everyone else sees it everyday if not in person then televised. It's reality. The fact that the Pentagon is passing this shit off as a dignity thing makes me embarassed to be a veteran.
