There won't be exemptions for college kids.  Things are different now. We
discussed the current rules a while ago (I'm too lazy to pull up pipermail, but
I believe Jessie posted something from the NLG). Currently, a student can only
have his deferment pushed back until the end of the semester; a senior can
postpone until the end of the year.  

There is also still the possibility that Fritz Hollings' Universal Service Act
will make it back into Congress. While it is an attempt to make everyone, male
or female, perform 2 years of service regardless of station, the President is
free to define an alternative means of term fulfillment, which privileged
children will certainly seek out. 


Millions more bodies for the government to play with, any way you look at it.
