-------- Original Message -------- Subject: Re: [ballistichelmet] Anti-Anti-Nader Date: Thu, 17 Jun 2004 15:01:33 +0000 (GMT) From: [email protected] Adam suggested I send this. I know it's a bit dated since the announcement to be on the lookout for seven terrorists but here it is: Ok, we are now to look out for 7 possible terrorists that are inside our country plotting an attack sometime in the coming months. First, how did they get in the US in the first place?! I can understand one or two slipping in but we spent millions setting up this Homeland Security and seven internationally known terrorists somehow got in. Now we are supposed to be vigilant and keep shopping. Most have been on a watch list for years. Who was watching them if we can't find them? The same happened with 9/11. They were on watch lists too and somehow we lost them. Ridiculous. Second, this attack could be today. It could be in July. Who knows because no one is telling us where and when this could happen. But Tom Ridge said that we should "get out and have some fun". We are just supposed to again be vigilant and keep shopping. It's just like the CIA after reviewing a Bin Laden, Zaqawi or someone else's tape. All they can say (with the zillions of dollars they get a year) is it is likely him. Likely? Hell give me millions of dollars and I can say the same thing. Not to mention, hardly any local fire and rescue have received the hazmat gear they were promised. I am almost certain the next attack will be chemical or biological. What will happen if we can't even get to the area to clean it up or at least contain it because the area is too hot and we don't have enough equipment? Basically because of this, we as a nation have said that all the police, firemen and rescue who died on 9/11 died in vain but hey at least they got a mention in Bush's campaign ad. I just read an article in Rolling Stone about Global Warming and how it's already here. Remember Paris last year? The heat wave sent 1000's to the hospitals that overflowed capacity. Now if that happened in the US we would really be screwed. Just look at the overburden the hospitals took on 9/11. Remember, 9/11 could have been a whole lot worse. Normally, 50,000 people could have been there at any given time. The largest loss of life on American soil on one day was Antietam at 20,000 (and that was from both sides losses). If something similiar happened be it natural or an attack that caused tens of thousands of casualties, the system couldn't hold it. But again, we are told to be vigilant and keep shopping. For what? For our prosperity? No for corporate america. The same corporate america who raped us last year and got away with it(Enron, WorldCom etc). Are any of you prospering? Show of hands, whose squeaking by paycheck to paycheck. And most of you, like me, are not shall we say youthful anymore. When do you expect to retire? I can't even fathom that timetable as I might have a $1000 in savings. And I'm 34! Now I also hear that we are running out of fossil fuels. Saudi Arabia has totally overestimated their supply. The UAE has already started to move their national industries away from oil production to tourism because they are running short. And Bush wants to drill in Alaska. Don't forget gas is at an all time high. And no one is taking concrete steps to open up alternative energy. All this and Kerry can't seem to get ahead in the polls (not that I am a big fan of him but he's better than Bush). Kerry should be way ahead of Bush. Why isn't he? Is it his campaign? Partly but there are bigger elements at work here. Bush is a major cause of all of the above and with Iraq and Afghanistan we should have him thrown out on his butt but he's in there and will remain there because of two things. He's in bed with Corporate America and also radical christians. I watched Frontline's The Jesus Factor about Bush's beliefs and how they run his daily affairs. During the Reagan campaign Bush 2 realized that he did not have to reach out to any other group to win the White House other than the Christians. Before this, no president was elected in modern times without getting the Catholic vote. And in the Christians eyes Bush can do no wrong because they think the way he does. They'll never turn on him no matter what he does. So now Corporate America has control over everything. Media, politics and industry. And they cater to the whim of these Christian fanatics by tossing them a bone every once in a while to take away attention overseas and this terrible domestic economy ("the world hates us but here keep yourself busy with gay marriages and steroids in baseball"). These are the same people who didn't want civil rights, the ERA, interracial marriage, sex education or condom distribution in schools during the onslaught of AIDS, abortion rights and truly believed that rock music drove teens to suicide with hidden messages. 20 years from now their stance on gay marriage will make them look just as out of touch with reality as the above mentioned topics. But the hardcore christians eat this stuff up and through it mobilizes them for the republican machine. Go to a Nascar race and play "Proud to be an American" and see how many ignorant people cry because they think America is the best place on earth and yet have never been outside their state nevermind their country. And until the Christians stop believing they are better than everyone else who isn't a Christian (they say they accept all but you are still going to hell if you don't believe their way) and stop holding on to the false belief that the Kingdom of Israel has to be rebuilt for the messiah (who isn't coming back people!), we will continue to anger the rest of the world and keep spawning Bin Laden's for decades. Now one might think I am against christians. Nothing could be further from the truth. I accept everyone as they are. Those who know me, know this to be true. But when a group imposes their belief system on the populace or start censoring free speech, they lose my support for them. Plus, we are supposed to have a separation of church and state and that has been eroding dramatically over the past three years. One also might think I am not patriotic or love America. They are wrong. I love America by definition but we no longer live in it. We never have really. Read the Declaration of Independance and try to tell me we do. Do we as a country consider all men created equal? Really? Then explain why there is still rampant racism, sexism and poverty in the "best country in the world?" And we wonder why other countries find us hypocritical. That's your starting point, folks, and this is what echoes globally. But don't listen to me. Be vigilant and keep shopping. -------------------- This message was sent from a PCS Phone from Sprint. Get a free PCS Mail account!
