David,

Holy shit. I was right.

"it was causing too many people to see too many things they didn't know
about and shouldn't have"

btw: Who are the editors of c-span to say what *I* want to see? This is
our belonging. We collectively own this.

Exchange with C-SPAN:

it was we felt the most watched feature was being manipulated by outside
groups who had an agenda to promote certain clips as "most watched" on
our site when it may have not been representative of what the vast
public was interested in. the videos now on the homepage will still
closely reflect the most watched section, just with a bit more of an
editorial mind towards fairness. i will pass your note on, however. thanks

Thank you for your prompt reply.

Was the "most watched" list not being used? Did people complain about
having it there? I would argue that your content just got significantly
harder to peruse and access for the average web surfer. How about
introducing a ratings type system instead of "most watched" then? Some
way to sort through all of your content based on user input received
would be appreciated.
