"THE COURAGE TO REFUSE"

Hear the story of an elite Israeli pilot who was not afraid to "use the
huge power of a single small word: NO."

Talks by Israeli military refuser Captain Yonatan Shapira in Hanover, NH,
and in Montpelier, Middlebury, and Burlington, Vermont, Thursday and
Friday this week (see below for details).

During eight years of service in the Israeli military as a helicopter
pilot Yonatan flew primarily as a rescue and assault helicopter pilot,
completing well over 100 missions, including missions in Lebanon.

In 2001, Shapira was called back to become a founding member of Israel's
Black Hawk squadron.  After the establishment of the group, Shapira
continued to serve as a pilot, instructor, and operations leader in the
reserves.

In October 2003, Shapira signed a declaration stating his refusal to
participate in aerial attacks on populated areas in the occupied
territories. In the statement, Shapira and 26 other pilots deemed such
attacks illegal, immoral, and contrary to the best interests of Israel.

All of Captain Shapira's talks are free and open to the public.
