"experts" because I want to hold them accountable if they are giving 
advice to anyone.  Do they really think this guy is not capable?  For

AL-QA'IDA hit teams would assassinate US and British politicians and 
other international leaders under plans being personally overseen by 
Osama bin Laden, according to reports emerging from the interrogation of 
terror suspects arrested in Pakistan.

The hits would be carried out simultaneously in several countries. The 
common factor would be the victims' close ties to George W. Bush.

Key al-Qa'ida lieutenants in custody in Pakistan have told their captors 
that the orders for the campaign of political assassinations came 
directly from bin Laden.

They have revealed how in his mountain hideout the Saudi terrorist 
mastermind is still personally involved in drawing up plans for a new 
wave of attacks against the West.

A Pakistani intelligence source said: "Osama has given the go-ahead to 
target important places and personalities in the US, UK and Pakistan."

Details of the assassination plot were said to have been found on a 
computer belonging to al-Qa'ida suspect Mohammed Naeem Noor Khan, who 
was a frequent visitor to Britain. It suggests the assassins are in 
place in many of the target countries.

The computer also contains meticulous details of how suicide bombers 
would hit airports and buildings in the US and Britain.

A senior security source in Islamabad said there were several countries 
where assassins were intending to strike. The hit list refers to 
"political personalities" who are key US allies.

The intercepted plans show how the campaign would begin in the US, with 
the murder of a figure close to the White House followed as swiftly as 
possible by attacks against as many of the US's allies as the terrorists 
can reach.

Terror cells were told to identify "available targets". This would 
exclude closely guarded figures such as Mr Bush and British Prime 
Minister Tony Blair, concentrating instead on prominent public figures 
who do not have the same protection.

Two terrorists posing as journalists murdered Afghan leader Ahmed Shas 
Massoud 48 hours before the September 11, 2001, attacks in the US, to 
eliminate a key anti-Taliban figure.

Pakistani officials have apparently shared details of their discovery 
with countries vulnerable to attack. These are believed to include 
Yemen, Turkey and Saudi Arabia as well as Pakistan.

Pakistani President Pervez Musharraf has escaped two attempts on his 
life this year. Checkpoints were set up in Islamabad yesterday and 
cabinet ministers have been told to restrict their movements.

Investigators in Saudi Arabia are said to have uncovered plans by an 
al-Qa'ida cell in the kingdom that was plotting to assassinate members 
of the royal family.

What has also emerged from the recent arrests in Pakistan is how bin 
Laden is determined to carry out another spectacular attack against the US.

But some experts question bin Laden's ability to co-ordinate live 
operations.
