-------- Original Message -------- Subject: [vermontgreens] Two Items of Interest to Vermont Greens Date: Thu, 22 Jan 2004 12:31:48 -0500 From: george plumb <[email protected]> To: VGP Lists <vermontgreens-3hfIC0tI0F+k/[email protected]> CC: <[email protected]> Hi Greens, In response to President Bush's State of the Union speech the Vermont Green Party yesterday sent out a press release to most of the papers in the state. Many thanks to Bob Williams of the media committee who worked on this. The release is too large to send out on this list serve but we would encourage you to read it on our web site at www.vermontgreens.org <http://www.vermontgreens.org> It is under the news and events section. If it does not appear in your local paper we suggest that you use it as the basis of a letter-to-the-editor or an op-ed and send it under your name. If it does get published either from us or modified from you I would appreciate receiving a copy of it for our records and to know that the results of our efforts are being seen. Also, below my signature line is an announcement of the first Green Party presidential debate to be held at Harvard on Thursday, January 29. Some of you might be in the area or even make the trip. Now that we are into the election year I hope that you are talking to your friends who might be green oriented and encouraging them to sign up for this list serve. It is a good way to educate people what the green Party is all about and person to person is the best way to spread the word. When I tell folks I am a Green they are often very interested to know more. This should be an exciting event with many chances for audience members to ask the candidates questions. This the first Green Party Presidential Debate ever to take place, and there is an excellent chance that it will be covered and by C-SPAN, and we already have commitments from local cable stations to cover. The forum room, where the debate will be held, holds from 300-800 people, and it would be great to fill it up, especially if we are able to convince C-SPAN to cover it. This should be a very exciting event, and a great chance to learn about the Green candidates for president. A showing of our support at this event could be the first step towards getting the Green nominee into later Presidential debates. Please make the trip down to Cambridge if you can! Information, including directions, can be found below. Please contact me, Steve Milder, with any further questions. peace. -steve milder, harvard college greens [email protected] <mailto:[email protected]> 617 493 4642 ===========Event Details=========================== WHAT: Green Party Presidential Debate, featuring candidates David Cobb, Kent Mesplay, and Lorna Salzman WHEN: Thursday, January 29th, 2004. 6:30-8pm.
