What an interesting document, thanks for pointing it out.  My assumption
was that pdfTeX was just a hack that hijacks, for LaTex users, a few of
the features of PDF.  Not the case.

It appears that the title page of the pdfTeX manual is a sample PDF
document:

"The cover of this manual shows a simple pdf file. Unless compression
and/or encryption is applied, such a file is rather verbose and readable.
The first line specifies the version used; ..." (from "About PDF", page 1)
