Re: taps on totes

To Gary Nepple - thanks for fixing the pump!! it works great - just a=20
slight leak.  Zac, Den and I found the oil in the water heater hot, but=20
it failed the Bubble T test, so no fuel.  We pumped about 200 gallons of=20
oil around the site - in and out of totes and water heaters and=20
processors and thru the filter.  As suspected, the 1 micron filters are=20
far too fine and they plugged up in about a minute if we got very far=20
into a tote.

We had transfered some heated oil into processor 2 on Saturday.  We=20
drained the stuff off the bottom and found it had separated pretty well=20
in the cone bottom tank - but still had some water in it.  We set up=20
another experiment.  We put the hot oil that Gary pumped into the water=20
heater this afternoon into processor 1.  It has some water and was=20
unfiltered (showed 138=B0F on the new thermometer!).  We pumped all the=20
rest of the oil into the BBQ tote.  We used a plastic fiber bag as a=20
filter medium and pumped "filtered" oil into processor 2 and oil heater=20
#2.  We are trying to recruit someone to go down to the site and heat=20
the oil and then turn it off so ti will settle. The point is to see if=20
more water will settle in cone bottom vessels than in water heaters and=20
if the filtered oil will have less water than the unfiltered oil.  More=20
on that later.  Hopefully we will know by the end of the weekend if=20
filtering and/or settling will get the water out of our oil or if we=20
need to take another tack.

Anyway, some bungs in totes will be good.  As I have always maintained,=20
we will eventually use all the oil as a resource for fuel making.  It=20
will only depend on how long it takes to develop methods to dry and make=20
it useful.
