Earthrace - Biodiesel Event!

Here's a call out to the biodiesel community for help organizing the
Portland stopover of the Earthrace Biodiesel Campaign.

Earthrace Global Tour:  Portland

 

August 8th and 9th, 2006  

Tom McCall Waterfront Park.

 

The Earthrace team is currently on an educational tour of the major ports
around the globe to increase awareness and interest in renewable energy and
alternative fuels.  The 78' Earthrace trimaran (World's Greenest Powerboat)
will be conducting tours and educational forums along the Portland
Waterfront August 8th and 9th of 2006.  We'd like to invite the community,
media and local businesses to attend, participate and support the Earthrace
mission.                   

 

What's Earthrace?

*	The Earthrace is an attempt to set the world record for
circumnavigating the globe.


*	The boat is to be fuelled with 100% biodiesel, a fuel made from
renewable sources such as canola and rapeseed oil.

 

*	The current 75-day record is held by British boat Cable and Wireless
in 1998, Earthrace aims to complete the race in less than 65 days. It is
also the first time in history an official UIM Powerboat record will be
attempted using renewable fuel.

 

*	The boat has a unique wave piercing hull that allows the boat to
pierce through the water rather than riding over the top.

 

*	Wave piercing is a key element in getting the record for
circumnavigating the globe as it allows the boat to run continuously at high
speed in both flat and rough sea conditions.

 

*	The Earthrace has been funded to date by sponsorship from companies
and individuals around the globe. 

 

 

                  

How can I help?

*	Encourage your friends, co-workers and community groups to come out
and support this 
highly visible demonstration of alternative fuels.


*	Bring your children to tour the boat which they can later watch
breaking the world record, with continual internet feeds showing global
position on the Earthrace virtual dashboard.


*	Sponsor the charitable trust with individual donations or company
sponsorships.


*	Volunteer to help plan and organize the event
