that would be news to me and I seriously doubt that. Before I started using Amsoil in my old air-cooled vws (which are pretty hard on oil, given that they have no filter and no internal cooling system EXCEPT for the oil) I read a comparison of amsoil, redline, mobil 1, etc. and amsoil was #2 - redline was #1 but it costs over twice as much as amsoil (and amsoil is usually about 1/3 more than mobil 1, for example). But the performance stats were there and I always noticed better mileage and cold starts, etc. when using it. My dad and father-in-law were big skeptics too but tried it and never looked back either. No, i'm not a dealer - just a happy user.
