paying road taxes on biofuels

I agree that paying our fair share is what we should
do. On another site someone else thought that vehicle
registration was for paying for road maintenance too.
Like the earlier post, I wonder if any of the gas tax
is used for anything other than road maintenance. It
seems like there must be a lot collected from the gas
tax and with that much, there might be a little
"wiggle room" for other projects. With the feds
recently paying billions to unknowns, possibly those
hostile to US military in Iraq, I am leary of
volunteering any more than gets automatically deducted
from 99% of the people that drive anyway. It would be
nice if the state and feds actively devoloped
alternatives to the gasoline IC engine for
transportation like they each of the last 8 or so
Presidents have eluded to in speaches with staements
like "we must break our addiction to forign oil".
Instead, they, the feds, seem to do the bidding of big
oil. The state does nothing, as far as I know. I hope
the government will be responsive to the needs of the
citizens. Prior to Prohibition there were alcohol and
elect vehicles, but sinse then, even through the oil
shortage of the 1979, there is not much in the way of
alternatives to the gas IC engine. Big oil and
government seem to have merged. It is best not to
think about such things and just pay, I suppose, even
if gas tripples or gets even higher and even if it
gets harder and harder to tell where big oil ends and
government begins, even if expenses are rising faster
than wages. I think it is our duty. We can just get a
second (third or what have you) job (with-in walking
or horse back distance). Sorry for the rammbling
disconnected thoughts. I know the government is of the
people, by the people, for the people, I get a little
frustrated with the way some of us handle things that
are refered to as mistakes but seem to be leading
efficiently towards less bio-diversity. I think no one
should advocate not following laws as this may lead to
this site getting a reputation. I know that the people
I have met that are involved with biodiesel are good
upstanding law abiding people. They always have been.
