Hello, Members...

This message is being sent following coordination and communication with
Howard Hall, LASC Training Coordinator.

NM CCW instructors associated with LASC are coordinating to provide a
series of refresher or renewal classes in accordance with NM DPS
requirements.

As one of the LASC-affiliated NM CCW instructors, I will be holding an
initial set of two 2-hour refresher classes for those who need them in
accordance with the statute Section 29-19-6, Item H, that states,

"...H. A licensee shall complete a two-hour refresher firearms training
course two years after the issuance of an original or renewed license.
The refresher course shall be approved by the department and shall be
taken twenty-two to twenty-six months after the issuance of an original
or renewed license. A certificate of completion shall be submitted to
the department no later than thirty days after completion of the
course."

Due to prior commitments, I won't be able to offer any 4-hour/4-year
refresher/renewal classes until sometime after April 1.

If your 4-year license was issued:

    * January, 2006 -- you can take the refresher between March 5th and
March 31 * February, 2006 -- you can take the refresher between March
5th and April 30 * March, 2006 -- you can take the refresher between
March 5th and May 31 * April, 2006 -- you can take the refresher
between March 5th and June 30 * May, 2006 -- you can take the
refresher between March 5th and July 31 * June, 2006 -- you can take
the refresher between April 1 and August 30

The class dates I will commit to for now are:

    * Wednesday, March 5th, 6pm, LASC indoor range * Wednesday, March
12th, 6pm, LASC indoor range * Wednesday, March 19th, 6pm, LASC
indoor range * Wednesday, March 26th, 6pm, LASC indoor range

I will post additional dates as soon as I can confirm my calendar. They
will probably be on Wednesday evenings as well.

I will be conducting the refresher class in accordance with the material
and practical qualification approved for me by NM DPS. The material and
practical qualification may be different from your initial training if
it was conducted by someone else. Additionally, I may have different
equipment requirements.

If you are considering signing up for my renewal classes, please review
the following information carefully to ensure you are aware of my
requirements.

Equipment:

    * Use of a holster (in good condition) for each shooter is required
* Holsters used must be designed for the firearm used in the class *
Only strong-side belt, drop, thigh or In the Waist Band (IWB) holsters
are allowed * Holsters must cover the entire trigger guard area of
the firearm * Semi-auto shooters must bring at least 3 serviceable
magazines * Revolver shooters must bring at least two speed loaders
designed for your specific revolver * Single-action revolvers (e.g.,
Colt Peacemakers, or other types of "Old West" revolvers) are not
allowed * Double-action revolvers must be shot double-action --
single action firing is not allowed * All shooters and observers must
use adequate eye and ear protection

Warm-Ups and Practical Course of Fire for Qualification Information:

    * One-handed shooting with the strong hand is required * One
handed shooting with the weak hand is required * Reloading and firing
from the high kneeling position (performing this is highly encouraged,
but not required) * Starting positions for firing will be either from
the concealed carry holster or from the "low ready" position * A
series of required warm-up shooting exercises will be conducted. *
Warm-ups may include shooting on the move familiarization, depending on
class size (1 to 1 student/instructor ratio requirement)

Students may wish to shoot at least one practice qualification round as
an additional "warm-up" prior to qualification. If you have two firearms
on your current license and wish to renew for both, you must qualify
with both. However, shooting the warm-ups with the additional
calibers/categories on your license is optional.

To be on the safe side, make sure you bring at least 100 rounds of
ammunition per firearm for practice runs and qualification.

If we haven't spoken or communicated via email to ensure your equipment
is satisfactory, I will inspect equipment within the first 15 minutes of
the class. If equipment does not comply with my requirements, you will
not be able to take the class and I will refund any paid fees.

If you would like to sign up, please do so via my website contact page
at: http://www.wyor.com/contact.html <http://www.wyor.com/contact.html>
. Be sure to tell me which Wednesday session you would like to attend.

Please call me at 505-660-1868 or write me at [email protected]
<mailto:[email protected]> if you have any questions or need clarification.

Thanks, and be safe!
