This Sunday we will have our January Garand Match. The weather man is
predicting a balmy 49°, so come on out and play. (However, this match will
take place regardless of the weather and of what the weatherman says.)

Registration will close at 9:00 and setup will start then. A clinic for
new comers will begin immediately after setup. (Note the later than usual
start time.)

We will fire the 30 shot Match A format which is 5 sighters and 10 shots,
prone slowfire in 15 minutes, 10 shots prone rapid fire in 70 seconds, and
then 10 shots standing in ten minutes. The fee is $13 which includes 40
rounds of 30-06 ammo. (If you bring your own ammo, the fee is $5.) We will
have ten M1's to loan, so not having a rifle is no excuse.

We want participation, so we are relaxing the Garand Match rules somewhat
this year. While we have several M1's to loan, any service rifle from any
country will be allowed as well as match rifles. We currently have M2 ball
ammo for the M1's, M80 ball for 7.62 rifles such as the M1A, and 5.56 ball
for the AR15's. An open bolt indicator is required if the rifle is going to
remain on the line while we score. If you don't have a suitable open bolt
indicator (yellow flag), and the M1 indicator won't work for your rifle,
you'll need to put your rifle on the rack between relays and while targets
are being scored. Shooters will have their choice of the SR-5 target we
usually use in the Garand Matches or of using the 200-300-600 targets we
use in 200 yard reduced course high power matches.

We encourage participation by Juniors. The fee for Juniors including ammo
is ZERO. Juniors are free!! Another twist this year is that we will
permit shooters to fire all rounds from the prone position. Shooters who
fire all 30 rounds prone will be scored in a separate category.

If you eyes aren't what they used to be, feel free to bring a scoped M1 or
Springfield or even an AR15. Come out and shoot. If your rifle doesn't meet
the Garand match rules, don't worry about it--we'll put you in the "Other"
class. The point is to have a good time.
