Range Closures begin Monday, 23 May The LANL archeological site survey teams return to the field on Monday, the 23rd of May. They will be working a four day schedule, Monday-Thursday. Hence all range facilities on the clubhouse side of the road will be closed until 6:00 PM, Monday through Thursday, from the 23rd of May until late June. The archery range will remain open. There are three sites in the canyon behind and to the left of the pistol ranges. The archeological site survey teams will concentrate most of their effort in that canyon during May and June. As soon as those sites are completely surveyed, all ranges, except the rifle range, will be reopened. We hope this occurs earlier than 30 June, but the schedule depends on the weather and on the complexity of each individual site once the excavation begins. There is little likelihood that the survey teams won't be done behind the pistol ranges by the end of June, which means we can fully resume pistol, shotgun and indoor range activities. The rifle range is a different story. There are about seven sites down-range. The rifle range will be closed Monday-Thursday until those sites are fully surveyed. LANL will have range closed signs posted while crews are working, and will have an individual stationed near the clubhouse. Honor these signs and cooperate with the LANL gate guard. Failure to do so will be the basis for removal from the LASC membership rolls. Marv Alme President, LASC
