For those interested, here is the FAQ on the NRA Refuse To Be Victim class.

http://www.nrahq.org/rtbav/rtbavfaq.asp

The Refuse To Be A Victim class is a good way to quickly reach lots of
people with varying degrees of motivation. Some will fully engage, some will
blow it off, most will take home a few ideas that could make a big
difference later on. I checked with my step-daughters at UNM today, they
say they still use the simple techniques & practices that they learned in
the class and have used the info to avoid potential problems. The emhasis is
on preventing attacks by awareness and being a hard target.

Several wrote about martial arts training opportunities for when prevention
fails, such as the Impact program in Santa Fe. I actually went to an Impact
"graduation" for a female former LASC board member. As a former Shotokan
karate instructor (back when I still had functional knees), I rate it as an
excellent practical approach. If my knees allowed, I'd be teaching that too!
I very highly recommend it. It is pretty demaniding and requires more
self-motivation than many teenagers have, but its well worth it. However,
its a bit beyond the scope of what LASC can directly accomplish.
