Just a reminder that there will be an IDPA Match this weekend. We will be shooting a Classification Match. This match will not mean anything to those that only shoot at our club and are not IDPA members other than the fact that you will be classified for our club matches and will be scored according to this classification if you show up at other matches. For this Classification to be recognized at regional, state or national matches you will need to be an IDPA member. I do not require membership for you to shoot but as stated above it will only be valuable to those that choose to shoot at LASC and want to keep track of how they are doing. You will need to bring at least 90 rounds ( this is the match round count) I recommend that you bring extra rounds in case you have to shoot a stage over. Each Stage is 30 rounds, and if you have a problem you will need to re-shoot the whole stage not just that string of fire. So I would recommend that you bring at least enough rounds to shoot the whole match twice (180 rounds, 200 to be practical), just to be safe. You will need: Hearing and eye protection. This is Mandatory A good holster that meet's IDPA rules is required, no Shoulder holsters, cross draw or small of the back holster will be allowed. A magazine pouch is recommended for the speed of the match, but is not required for the Classifier. We usually set up a reloading table at each position, as this is required even is you have extra magazines. Appropriate weather gear, this is New Mexico and due to the dry conditions I recommend water, comfortable clothes ( which depending on the weather on Saturday could mean a parka for some), sun block, snow shoes, a canoe or small fishing boat (but considering the conditions lately a camel might be more appropriate). You will have to do some moving during this match so good footwear is recommended. Band-aids are also something that I recommend due to the numerous reloads that you will have to do if you do not have a magazine loader. I will try and get the pistol sections sun shade set up early on, (Roger and Sandi Kruse graciously allowed us to use theirs last July and lost the canopy due to high winds) so at least we will have one area to get out of the sun/rain/snow that may or may not be present. I will have water available, but not SPF 45.... Expect your time on the firing line to be about 45 minutes due to the nature of this event. I would like to be able to schedule individual times for participants, but we have run into trouble in the past trying to do this due to reload time and new shooters, so my plan is to set up a regular match stage in the steel pit for those that are having to wait to shoot the classifier this will be a fun stage that can be used as a warm up and gun check. For information about the classifier see the IDPA website at www.idpa.com<http://www.idpa.com/> or contact me at [email protected]<mailto:[email protected]> Robert Toner Pistol Section Chair
