Hey All, It is that time again already. This upcoming Saturday is the Third Saturday of the month and thus cowboy action. Set-up begins at 9:00. Shooting starts shortly there after. This is going to be the ANNUAL SANTA CLAUS SHOOT. Gotta have Xmas spirit or some variant there of <grin>. Since there is snow on the ground, this one is going to be .22 friendly so we do not have to chase as much brass. Go full bore, or break out the single sixes and that old .410 in the closet -- idea is to have fun! Our section has been growing which is a great thing. We are now as the standard, going to a two-posse shoot with two bays set up as the routine. This will allow us to get through faster and also will make it more friendly for the beginners and the Young-uns which we fully encourage. "Buncle Steve" Chipera Fine Print stuff Basic Rules: all bullets are only lead & under 1000 fps for pistol, 1400 for rifle. This is because gas checks & jackets can ricochet off the steel targets, and faster bullets damage the targets. Regular lead slugs just splat harmlessly. The cowboy loads are round nose flat points, but semi-wadcutters usually work fine too. You don't want to put anything pointed (including round nose) in a lever gun tube magazine! For shotgun, any 7 1/2 or 8 target loads are ideal. There is no advantage to heavier loads or bigger shot, and again target damage & ricochet would become problems. No steel shot!!!! You do need eye and ear protection even to watch in case there is some splatter & it's a club rule anyway. Come ready to shoot, we're pretty easygoing & will help you get started safely.
