ofmipd-smtpauthup?

Hi!

I'm thinking of setting up an ofmipd server for my users. However,
I want it accessible from the Internet and I guess that means I'll
have to patch it somehow, i.e. my impression is ofmipd accepts
any submissions, from anyone to anyone. I don't want to make spammers
happy.

It shouldn't be that hard incorporating one of the available
qmail AUTH patches, but I had an idea that I thought someone
here could verify as sound (or, perhaps more likely, stuff down
my throat).

Anyway, do you think an ofmipd-smtpauthup program - analogous to
qmail-popup - insisting on AUTH would be a viable solution?

This program would be a stripped down ofmipd with one of the
available SMTP AUTH patches included. If auth succeeded it would
run the real thing. The real thing would have to be patched as
well, but as far as I can tell that would involve deleting one
line, the 220 response.

Any thoughts?

Should I take this to the qmail list instead?

Thank you for your time,
Malte
