nistp224 and gcc-3.0.4

Compiling nistp224 on a Linux box with gcc-3.0.4 I've noticed that the compiled library always return 0 from nistp224(), thus failing the regression tests. After compiling with gcc-2.95 on the same system it worked OK. The system is Linux with glibc-2.2.5.
