Glenn Greenwald prononcera la Conférence annuelle Beaverbrook 2014

Pour son événement phare, *la Conférence annuelle Beaverbrook 2014 **(en
anglais)**,* Média@McGill annonce avec enthousiasme la présence à Montréal
de Monsieur *Glenn Greenwald*, journaliste, avocat de droit
constitutionnel, commentateur et auteur reconnu. M. Greenwald, qui a publié
les révélations d'Edward Snowden sur les programmes de surveillance de
masse faite par la « National Security Agency » (NSA), s’ajoutera à une
liste d’intervenants qui ont déjà pris part à cet événement, dont Al Gore,
Angela Davis, Seymour Hersh, et Peter W. Singer, entre autres.

La Conférence aura lieu le *jeudi, 23 octobre 2014 dans la Salle Pollack*,
Université McGill, Montréal, Québec. Cette Conférence est gratuite et
ouverte au grand public. *Aucune inscription ne sera faite*. Les places
sont attribuées selon le principe de premier arrivé, premier servi.

*Glenn Greenwald* est bien connu pour ses *reportages au sein du **Guardian
US* *révélant les programmes de surveillance de masse *(Le *Guardian US*
partage avec le *Washington Post* le Prix Pulitzer 2014). Ces reportages
ont été récompensés par de nombreux prix, dont le « George Polk award for
national security reporting »; le « Gannett Foundation award for
investigative journalism » et le « Gannett Foundation watchdog journalism
award »; le « Esso Premio for Excellence in Investigative Reporting » au
Brésil (il a été le premier lauréat étranger); et le « Pioneer Award » de
« Electronic Frontier Foundation ». En tandem avec Laura Poitras, il a été
nommé sur le top *100* des *plus grands penseurs* mondiaux du magazine *Foreign
Policy*. Son cinquième livre, *No Place to Hide*

« First Look Media », projet soutenu par un don de Pierre Omidyar.

*Glenn Greenwald: The 2014 Beaverbrook Annual Lecturer*

For its flagship event, the *2014 Beaverbrook Annual Lecture*, Media@McGill
is excited to announce the speaker as *Glenn Greenwald*, journalist,
constitutional lawyer, commentator, and bestselling author. Mr. Greenwald,
who recently broke the NSA surveillance story, joins an impressive roster
of speakers who have taken part in this event, which includes luminaries
such as Al Gore, Angela Davis, Seymour Hersh, and Peter W. Singer, among
others.

The Lecture will take place on *Thursday, October 23, 2014* at * Pollack
Hall*, McGill University, Montréal, Quebec. As always, the Lecture is free
and open to the public. *There will be no registrations.* Rather, it will
be on a first-come, first-served basis.

*Glenn Greenwald* is best known for his *2013 National Security Agency
reporting* during which he was a columnist for the *Guardian US* (the
latter is the 2014 Pulitzer Prize winner along with the *Washington Post*).
For his reporting he received the George Polk award for national security
reporting; the Gannett Foundation award for investigative journalism and
the Gannett Foundation watchdog journalism award; the Esso Premio for
Excellence in Investigative Reporting in Brazil (the first non-Brazilian to
win); and the Electronic Frontier Foundation’s Pioneer Award. Along with
Laura Poitras, he was named by *Foreign Policy* magazine as one of the top
100 Global Thinkers for 2013. His fifth book, *No Place to Hide

about the US surveillance state and his experiences reporting on the
